: Teachers’ Strategies on Classroom Management
ABSTRACT
This research investigated the strategies used by the English teachers to
cope with classroom management problems during teaching learning process. The
qualitative method was adopted in this research and two English teachers at SMP
Negeri 8 Bogor were taken as the sample. The researcher used observation and
interview as research instruments to investigate the classroom management
problems faced by the teachers during teaching and to know the strategies used by
the teachers to cope with these problems.
The result of this study revealed that both of the teachers faced classroom
management problems during teaching learning process. The problems faced in
grouping learners (the students stay silent and the student not focus), teachers’
roles (in teaching technique, in the time management), correcting learners
(mistake on the handout, and mistake on the worksheet) and teachers’ feedback
(lack of students’ motivation). Meanwhile, the English teachers used several
strategies to cope with these classroom management problems. The strategies in
grouping learners (using snowball and adventure playing technique), teacher roles
(preparing the lesson plan (RPP), using a song, and using the picture card),
correcting learners (identify the mistake and finger correction,), teachers’
feedback (mystery feedback and two start a wish).
