Abstak

This Study was conducted on the basis of the problem faced by the researcher inthe teaching English speaking skill at SMP Purnawarman Rancabungur - Bogor. The Fact showed that the students English speaking skill on descriptive text using cue card were low.To cope with the problem, the researcher applied the media of cue card in the teaching English speaking.This research is trying tp prove whether cue card is effective in teaching English speaking on descriptive text.
In this paper, the writer used the experimental quantitative method by comparing two different groups. This research was conducted at SMP Purnawarman Rancabungur Bogor. The population was taken 63 from Class VIII.3 and 63 frpm class VIII.4 and it was 72 students as the sample. There were two variables in this research. The English speaking skill on descriptive text of students who were taught using cue card (Variable X1) is proven to be different from the English speaking skill on descriptive text of students who were taught without using cue card (variable X2) . The first is proven to be better (mx1= 71>_ MX2= 58) .
Moreover the different between those variables are proven to be significant (t-observe= 3.994 >_table = 2.380 in the level of significant and df of significant).
In conclusion the use of cue card in teaching English speaking on descriptive text proved to be effective.
