In the 21st century, the procces of teaching and learning is closely related with the
use of ICT. The use of ICT in teaching can make the students have a fun and
interesting learning. Integrating the role of ICT in education or in teaching and
learning process can be done by the use of certain media or application. In this
case, in teaching reading, the researcher uses Kahoot as a gamification or
application that may be useful and effective. This research aims at pre-service
English teachers’ perceptions in using Kahoot as gamification in EFL Reading Class at
General High School in Bogor. The researcher used qualitative method and adopted
questionnaire and interview to collect the data. The participants were five pre-service
English teachers when teaching practicum at General High School in Bogor. The
findings of the research showed that the pre-service English teachers’ perceptions
in using Kahoot as gamification in teaching reading to EFL students were: 1)
Kahoot as an effective tool to provide teaching reading to EFL students, 2)
Kahoot was able to help the teacher to cretae positive atmosphere in teaching
reading to EFL students and 3) Kahoot as a useful tool for teaching millennial
students.
