Students’ Perception of Teacher Video use in an
English Speaking classroom in Senior High School
Abstract
The aim of this research is to know how are students’ perception on teacher
videos use in an English speaking classroom in senior high school. In conducting
this research, the writer used a qualitative method in a form of descriptive analysis
(percentage). The data were collected through questionnaires. The participants of
this research were 30 students from XII IPA 1 class in SMAN 10 Bogor.
The result of this research shows overall result of students perception on
video used in an English speaking classroom are very positive to help their
learning English speaking. General students’ perception on videos (56%) students
agree, video make them feel happy when they used it in learning English,
furthemore, they easy to remind the material of english lesson. There are seven
point of specific students’ perception such as vocabulary, pronunciation,
grammar, performance, fluency and achievement.
In details, based on the result of specific students’ perception, grammar is
the most improved speaking skill after their learn using videos (70 % students
agree), and pronounciation is the seconde speaking skill that improved (68 %
students agree). Students favorite videos is movie video because movie video
make them interest and they do not feel bored when they watch something
different. Moreover they get more creative idea from movie, and they know how
to express an expression when they speak certain sentences.
