Abstak

The Use of English Songs to Scaffold EFL Student's Listening Comprehension Students’ Perspectives.

Songs can be useful for students. Songs are not only for fun but also can release
anxiety. Songs also can be a media for learning language through the lyrics. This
study aims to investigate EFL students’ perspectives of using English songs for
their listening comprehension and pronunciation. The methodology of this study
was qualitative methodology. Data were collected by using questionnaire and
interview. This study was participated by 13 students majoring English Education
at one of University in Bogor. The results show that most students agree that using
English can scaffold them to improve their listening comprehension and
pronunciation because song are fun. They can learn to listen to the correct
pronunciation from listening and singing English songs. There are many benefits of
using English songs on learning English. although, there are also disadvantages of
using English songs on learning, specifically when the tempo of the song used is
too fast so that it makes the song inappropriate for learning.
