Choosing the right learning media is an effetive way to improve student competence. Currently, the teaching and learning process is no stranger ti the use of gamification. Gamification is a learning methode that use technology and applies the concept of games, the goal is to motivate student in carrying out the learning procces and maximize feeling of hapiness in enjoying the procces of learning activities carried out.For some stundents, gamification may be beneficial for them in learning English. Therefore , recearcer wants to know students perception of using the duolingo application to develop english language learning . Data was collected through questionnnaires and interview. Questionnaires were conducted on fifty junior high school students and interviews were conducted on seven student at one junior high school in Depok. This study found that there are four aspects. The four aspects are time to learn English; English skills using Duolingo; students purposes; and stundents belief. That show how students perceive in using the Duolingo application to develop English language learning .The results show that more positive perception are generated, including thet the Duolingo applicaton can foster a sense of motivation in learning English., assists in improving the four students English skills and student knowledge, assist students in finding English learnigns goals, and the Duolingo application improves students self confidence in their learning success. However, there also negative perpections of students in using the Duolingo aplication, including the use of internet quota which makes it difficult for student to access the Duolingo application longer, there are no features to communicate and play wiht friends.
