Abstak
Lexical density is important for understanding the text and can also be an indicator
of students' abilities. This study is to analyze the differences in lexical density
between male and female students. These differences can provide insights into
writing styles that may differ between genders in an academic context. The aim of
this research is to find out the lexical density of male and female students' writing
and explain how lexical density shows their ability to write academic essays. In
addition, the study aims to determine the implications for teachers in the context of
language teaching. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, using
documentation analysis as a research instrument to obtain data. The participants of
the study were 6 male and 6 female students in their third semester at a private
university. This analysis used Ure’s method formula. The results showed that
female students had a higher lexical density than male students, even female
students' writing also was better in some sub-skills than male students' writing. The
study suggests that games method is better implemented in writing class.
