This research is conducted in order to improve students? speaking skill using
Lyrics Training at eighth grades of SMPN 3 Cibinong. In conducting this research
the researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method of research.
This research consisted of two cycles and each cycle consisted of four steps, they
were: Planning, action, observation, and reflection. Each cycle was conducted in
two meetings, so the researcher conducted this research in one month. To collect
and analyze the data, the researcher used the information from observation, and
the students? achievement in pre-test and post-test in order to support the data
collected. The result of this research shows that using lyrics training in teaching
speaking ability. The students? responses showed that they were interested to learn
speaking subject, because they felt easier to speak using the medium. Moreover,
the students? achievement in pre-test and post-test showed a significant
improvement. The students? average in preliminary study was 50. In the first cycle
the average score was 75. Meanwhile the average score in the second cycle was
87.5. It means that there was 25 points or 69.4% of average improvement from the
students? score in the preliminary study to the first cycle and there was 31.1 points
or 100% of average score improvement from the students? score in preliminary
study to the second cycle. From this result, the researcher concludes that teaching
speaking using lyrics training website at eighth grades of SMPN 3 Cibinong can
improve their speaking skill.
