Listening comprehension is “one’s ability to comprehend spoken language at the discourse level. The aims of this study are to find out the use of TED Talks videos as authentic materials to improve students’ ability in listening comprehension and to identify students’ perception of content familiarity in their learning with TED Talks videos. This paper focuses on the students' perspectives on the use of Ted Talks as authentic materials in English language learning (ELL) classroom. This research is conducted in a university in the city of Bogor. The participants of this research are first year and second year English language education students at one of the universities in Bogor who had implemented authentic tasks in their learning process in listening classes. The researchers used case study design to know what is students' perceptions and strategies in the using of TED Talks in EFL listening classroom in the university. The results of questionnaires and interviews obtained by researchers revealed that using TED Talks videos as an original learning resource (authentic materials) can help students learn English on an audio-visual basis. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that using TED Talks as an authentic learning media can improve students' listening skills, helps student in learning English, and TED talk as an effective audio-visual based learning medium which can improve listening skills.
