STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVES OF THEIR REFLECTIVE JOURNAL WRITING EXPERIENCE AND TEACHER FEEDBACK COMMENTS

Reflective journal is one of the methods that widely used in the field of education.
Reflective journal can be used both by teachers and students. Reflective journal
helps students to develop their knowledge by doing reflection. Not only that,
reflective journal can make students improve their self-development and self
awareness in the learning process through reflection. This research aimed to find
out students’ perspectives about reflective journal based on their experience in
writing reflective journal in the classroom. In this study, the researcher used a
qualitative study as the research method with fifteen students from one class of
English department. In this study, the researcher used two main instruments;
document and interview. This research found that students’ perspectives about
reflective journal are positive responses. Based on students’ perspective, the use of
reflective journal in the classroom are effective and useful. The study also revealed
that teacher’s feedback in the classroom can helps students to write reflective
journal better. Teacher’s feedback is affects students’ process in writing reflective
journal.
