Abstak
Online learning fully supports the learning process in the pandemic era because it
provides various activities that can be carried out more quickly and efficiently.
The purpose of online learning is to facilitate communication in the learning
process, especially the delivery of teaching materials in the fields of education
which is carried out remotely. Online learning is also able to improve the
development of the abilities of EFL students during a pandemic. This study aims
to find out the impacts of online learning on EFL students at the university level
during the pandemic era which involved 34 EFL students from a university ini
Bogor. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative case study using a
questionnaire with 19 closed-ended questions and interviews through WhatsApp
chats and voice notes with 4 open-ended questions to obtain data related to
students’ perceptions. The results of this study indicated that the online learning
had quite positive impacts on the EFL students’ learning motivation (55.45%),
students’ digital technology skills (63.83%), and students’ language skills
(74.27%). Furthermore, the impacts of online learning on the students’ eye health
and joint health were not too negative, but it was quite negative on students’
mental health. Only 38.2% of respondents stated that the online learning gave a
negative impact on their eye health, and only 32.4% stated that it gave a negative
impact on their joint health, but 67.5?lt that it gave a quite negative impact on
their mental health. Therefore, online learning can be used with certain conditions
while paying attention to the mental health of students.
