In learning process, developing the students in learning speaking seems to be the most
difficult things for the students. In learning Speaking students face some problems
and make some solutions to cope with their problems. This research aims at
investigating students problems and solutions in learning speaking English in terms of
language and psychological aspect. The researcher used qualitative method and
adopted reflective journal and interview to collect the data. The participants were six
students of the 11th grade in Science Class of Senior High School at Bogor. The
findings of the research showed that the students’ problems in learning speaking
English in terms of language aspects were: 1) vocabulary, 2) fluency, 3) grammar,
4) pronunciation and 5) comprehension. The students’ problems in terms of
psychological aspects were: 1) lack of confidence, 2) lack of motivation and 3)
basic assumption. The students’ solutions in terms of language aspects were: 1)
memorize the vocabulary, 2) practice speaking English, 3) learn the grammar, 4)
using digital dictionary and 5) tried to understand what the teacher said. The
students’ solutions in terms of psychological aspects were: 1) more be confidence,
2) give a motivation in themselves and 3) speaking English practice.
