Abstak

This study aims to explore the views of teachers in One of Islamic Boarding School
environment towards teaching English vocabulary. The study used a qualitative
approach with a case study method, focusing on several teachers in one of Islamic
Boarding School in Bogor district, Indonesia. Data were collected through semi
sctrutured interviews, and documents that include English Textbooks, student
worksheets and online media games. It was then analyzed thematically. The results
showed that the teachers had diverse views regarding beliefs, strategy techniques,
challenges, and contextual approaches in teaching vocabulary to students. The
factors of lack of understanding, vocabulary pronunciation skills and lack of
confidence and considering English as unimportant are important aspects that
influence teachers' teaching practices. The findings reveal that teachers at Islamic
Boarding School have strong beliefs about Teaching English Vocabulary, there are
several effective techniques that used. However Islamic Boarding School Teachers
found the challenges in implementing that. A strong belief in the importance of
vocabulary and an awareness of the challenges involved motivate teachers to
continue developing relevant, enjoyable, and contextual learning strategies tailored
to the needs of boarding school students.
