This descriptive qualitative research investigated the effectiveness of using authentic listening materials to promote students' listening skill, particularly listening comprehension. The study involved 35 senior high school students in Indonesia. Data collection occurred through observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The findings demonstrate that incorporating authentic materials successfully promoted students' listening skill. Specifically,
subskills such as listening for details, grasping the gist, detecting signposts, and inferring meaning all showed improvement. Based on these results, the study suggests that teachers, students, and parents can all play a role in utilizing authentic materials to enhance students' overall listening activity, with a particular focus on listening comprehension.
