Writing using Authentic Materials
ABSTRACT
Indonesia goverment implemented curriculum 2013 to achieve goal to compete with
the global. One of the skills to communnicate in language lesson is using writing,
but this skill is not easily to be mastered because it is in Higher-Order-Thinking
Skills creating stage. The difficulties that faced by students can be helped using
authentic materials. This study focuses on what types of authentic materials can be
used in writing activites and what the effects of authentic materials in EFL
classroom. The data collection of this research using one-on-one interview and
documents. The results indicated video and poster are the types that can be used in
teaching writing and student got interested in learning English, got more
vocabularies, and could found new ideas easily after taught by authentic materials.
