The students’ participation is very important in obtaining speaking skill. It
will support the success of learning English. But, there are many students who
find difficulty in participating in speaking. Thus, the students need a certain
technique in increasing the students’ participation in speaking class.
This paper has purposed to know how the "Simon says" Game can
increase the students’ participation in speaking class, to know the students’ barrier
to participate in the speaking class and to know the obstacles those influence the
teaching and learning process using "Simon says" game.
The research methodology used in this paper was qualitative method. In
this method, the researcher would be a key of instruments. This method was used
to find the effect of "Simon says" game.
As the result, "Simon says" game could increase the students’ participation
in speaking class. It was determined by the students’ actives in the class. The
speaking class became attractive class. Hence, the teaching and learning process
became effective and efficient.
