Abstak
In recent years, mobile Apps have been increasingly included into learning. As a
result, the purpose of this research is to determine how the Mobile App affects
students' autonomy and to what extent the Mobile App affects students' autonomy
in learning English. This study included sixteen ninth-grade secondary school
students from a private school in Bogor. This research employs a qualitative
approach using a case study design. As data gathering approaches in this study,
questionnaires and semi-structured interviews are used. According to the data
obtained from this study, students have all of the qualities of autonomous learners
based on Chan's (2001) theory, which are being highly motivated goal oriented,
having an inquisitive mind, well organized, hard working, interested and
enthusiastic, and having initiative, and students’ autonomy in this study is classed
as sufficient..
