Abstak

Abstract
Vocabulary is part of a language that underlies the understanding of the
language itself. Vocabulary is an important part of language proficiency and
grants much of the basis for how well learners listen, speak, read, and write.
Speaking is one of language skills that seems institutively to be the most
important skill to master. In this research, the writer wants to present the
analysis the correlation between students vocabulary mastery and their
speaking competence.
In this research, the writer used quantitative reseach method. The
population of this study is the students of SMAIT At Taufiq Bogor. The
subject of this study was all of the second grade students and the number of
the subject was 36 students. In collecting the data, the writer used some
tests; vocabulary test and speaking test.
The conclusion was first, Coefficient of Regression variable X equal to
0.877; Coefficient of positive value means a positive relationship between
vocabulary with students speaking competence. Second, obtained the value
of F observed of 189.865 and F table value is 4.11. The conclusion was F
observed > from F table for both degrees of error 5 % or 0.05. It could be
concluded that the distributin of the research is linear as a result. Third, the
value of t observed (2.795) was greater than T table (2.028) with a
significant level below 0.05. The test results stated Ho rejected significant
means, then there is a significant relationship between students Vocabulary
Mastery with Students Speaking competence. Fourth, the correlation
between variable X and Y is 0.921, it means that the test instrument has a
very high level of correlation. That the variable X (Students 'Vocabulary
mastery) is very influential on the variable Y (Students' Speaking
Competence).
