In academic writing, there are many problems, one of which is some problems in sub-skill writing, Grammarly is an app that can help that. The purpose of this study was to find out students’ perceptions of Grammarly in helping them with academic writing and to found out about with sub-skills were affected by Grammarly. Ten participants selected were English students who were doing or had done academic writing and students who had used Grammarly application. This study involves 5 male and 5 female participant all of them have experience in academic writing. To complete this research, the researcher used a case study with a qualitative approach as a methodology for collecting and analyzing data. The results showed that most students had the same perception of Grammarly application as an aid in checking their academic writing. The results showed that the students agreed that Grammarly was effective to use as an aid in correcting their academic writing. In addition, the five sub-skills of academic writing in this study are grammar, mechanics, organization, lexical choices, and cohesion. The five sub-skills that are greatly helped by Grammarly are sub-skills, grammar, mechanics, and lexical choices. while sub-skills such as organization and cohesion are not helped by Grammarly.
