ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research was to investigate the implementation of problem
based learning model in developing students’ critical thinking. The participants of
this study retrieve the data from several students from 8th grade at a Junior High
School in Bogor. The qualitative method through a case study was the research
design in this study. Therefore, the researcher collected the data with observation
using self-observation and questionnaire as the data collection in this research. The
findings showed that the problem-based learning model can be implemented in the
classroom for developing students’ critical thinking. Besides, the researcher also
found that most of the students feel comfortable and easier to solve the problem
using work in group technique in problem-based learning model because they can
collaborate their ideas from the group discussions. In conclusion, the problem
based learning can be implemented in the classroom for developing students’
critical thinking. It can be seen from the results of research using self-observation
and a questionnaire that has been researched by researcher.
