This research aims to discuss the medium of teaching vocabulary by using
Nursery Rhymes for young learners at an early age. This research is conducted to
find out how Nursery Rhymes in English language teaching for young learners
and to find out the effect of Nursery Rhymes on learners' vocabulary. Songs are
one of the techniques that can be used to teach English vocabulary to students.
There are many children's songs in English that can be used for teaching.
However, not all children know the lyrics and rhythm of the song, so it will be
difficult for them to follow the song. In this case, nursery rhymes can be used to
teach. This study aims to improve English vocabulary for early learners. This
research uses descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data. The instruments
used in this research are observation and interview. The subjects of this study
were 10 learners aged 4 to 7 years old. This research focuses on the effect of
nursery rhymes in vocabulary learning. The researcher can conclude that using
nursery rhymes media in vocabulary learning for young early learners can be
applied in learning. Based on the results of this study, students' vocabulary
increased by 3 to 5 English words. This can be a good information for teachers in
improving students' vocabulary.
