Speaking is one of the most Important skills that everyone need as a tool to communicate with others. Many method and media used in teaching and learning speaking and video-based learning (VBL) is one of them. The purpose of the study was to investigate how teacher and students perceptions toward video-based learning in speaking skill. This study used descriptive qualitative method as a framework for analyzing and collecting the data. The qualitative data were obtained from observations and interview. The qualitative data were analysed through transcribing, coding, and interpreting. The participants of the study were a teacher and six of x-IPA 1 students of a private high school in Rumpin. The findings of the study showed that students problams in learning speaking english in terms of language aspects were : 1) vocabulary, 2) pronunciation, 3) grammar, 4) fluecy, and accuracy. The students problems in terms of psychological aspects were : 1) lack of vocabulary and 2) lack of motivation. according to the teacher perception, VBL helped students enriched their vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar. The students showed positive responses toward VBL. According to them, VBL helped them in speaking skills such enriched their vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar.
