This research aimed to know the strategies used by the pre-service teacher in
teaching speaking, and to know the problems that the pre-service teacher faced while
teaching speaking. This research was designed by qualitative method where
descriptive as the design. To collect the data, interview and focus group discussion
were used which were interpreted qualitatively. The participant this research was
student of English Education Department, Bogor Ibn Khaldun University that thought
at Songkhla Southern Thailand. Based on finding of this research that have done by
the researcher, most of the problems that the pre-service found when their teaching
were mother tongue and the strategies that used by pre-service teachers in teaching
speaking to Islamic students of Songkhla southern Thailand were presentation and
talk.
