This research aims at knowing students’ skill in writing recount text. The
participants of this research are 27 students in the eleventh grade of SMK Taruna
Terpadu 1, Bogor. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The writer
describes the students’ skill in implementing the generic structure and language
feature in their writing recount text. The data are collected through written test.
The result of this research shows 17 students uses orientation, 18 students uses
event, 10 students uses re-orientation, 14 students uses the simple past tense, 27
students uses action verb, 19 students uses temporal sequence, and 27 students
uses specific participant. Based on the data finding the writer finds only 7 students
who implementing generic structure and language feature properly in their
writing. It means the students’ skill in writing recount text at SMK Taruna
Terpadu 1 Bogor still low.
