This research focuses on the use of think-aloud strategy in improving reading skills especially in the second grade at SMP 16 Bogor in the academic year 2017/2018. The objectives of this study are as follows: 1) To find out the use of think-aloud strategy can improve students’ reading skills. 2) To find out the improvement in students’ reading skills. 3) To find out the improvement in students’ reading skills after being given a think-aloud strategy. The method used in this research is descriptive analytic through Classroom Action Research, which is a study used to collect data, describe, process, analyze, conclude and interpret data so as to obtain a systematic picture. Descriptive research method of analysis is used to find out the problem by describing in detail and clearly, as well as conducting a data analysis of the problem to obtain a conclusion with the aim to describe and analyze systematically against a factual fact. The following conclusions can be drawn. 1) Obtained that the lowest value in pre cycle is 50 and remains in cycle 1 with the lowest value 50 and remains 50 in cycle 2. Furthermore, the highest value in pre cycle is 80 and remains 80 in cycle 1 and in cycle 2 increases to 90, this indicates that think-aloud strategy is suitable to be applied. 2) Significant improvement in skills between before and after learning by using Think-aloud strategy is because in learning with Think-aloud strategy on Think-aloud strategy material students can work in groups and give their opinions directly or indirectly in KBM, and students are able solve the problem given by the teacher together. 3) Obtained that in the pre cycle only 30.55% or 11 students whose value reached the specified KKM, then in cycle 1 it increased to 58.33% or 21 students whose value reached KKM, and in cycle 2 it became 88.889% or 32 students have all achieved the KKM value.
