In order to explore the TBLT (Task-Based Language Teaching) method in the ELTM (English
Language Teaching Methodology) subject, the current study concentrated on the use of novel
learning activities that incorporate technology development, specifically Quizizz as a
gamification application, and a communicative approach employing group discussion strategy.
This study examines the implementation of gamification and group discussion in the learning
activities of ELTM subject by using case study in qualitative approach. The data were collected
by observation and questionnaire. The participant was the lecturer of ELTM subject that gave
the perceptions towards Quizizz and group discussion in the classroom activity. The findings
revealed that the implementation of Quizizz and group discussion help students to understand
TBLT in certain points, such as Quizizz highlights important things of TBLT and doing group
discussion as activity in TBLT method, but implementing Quizizz and group discussion doesn't
guarantee to deepen students understanding a whole lesson. The study's conclusion includes a
discussion of the findings' significance for the researcher comprehension of gamification
deployment and group discussions in the exploration of the TBLT approach.
