CLT has been widely explored and studied by many researchers in the field of
English language teaching. There have been many studies conducted on the use of
CLT in EFL settings. Hence, this study was designed to investigate the EFL
teachers’ understanding of English teaching, predominantly the influences and
challenges they face in the implementation of CLT practices in Classroom. This
study first presents an overview of English language teaching, and then
investigates the Implementation and Influences of CLT. In addition, a review of
existing literature related to communicative competence, as well as how it
functions in CLT is presented. Qualitative methods research design was used for
this research. Participants for this study were two teachers of English teaching at
secondary levels. The main modes of data collection consisted of questionnaire
and interview. The result showed that both of teachers have good responses in
implementing communicative language teaching and also know about role of the
teacher in teaching process, so CLT has positive attitude for the learners such as
the learners more active and have enthusiastic to communicative . In addition,
teachers facilitated students to enhance their speaking ability through discussion,
exercises and practices. After students speaking practice in the classroom, both of
teachers always evaluate and check the progress of students. The teachers have
positive perceptions about communicative language teaching. CLT is more
effective than another method, because it provides students to practice speaking
English.
