Using languages cannot be separated from the words. A word is a tool in
communication for representative of a lexeme. In English, words consist of: noun,
verb, adjective, adverb, and etc. mastering'"vords are considered as the important
materials for students especially the using of verbs. Irregular verbs are chosen in
this research because they have differences in pattems, forms, and sounds so they
are unpredictable in changing. Meanwhile, regular verbs have same pattem where
to change a new form they just added -ed in the end. Therefore, to master
irregular verbs students should memorize them one by one. To memorize them,
students faced problems especially in choosing media to support it. Flashcarcis and
flipchart are kinds of display teaching media and they are chosen to solve the
problem. These media were cheap, easy made, and easy prepared in the
classroom. This research was done to knor.v whether display teaching media can
improve students' mastery of English irregular verbs.

verbs between students who were taught by using flash cards and those who were
taught by using flipchart. It was shown by the result of computing to was higher
than t1 (3.030>2.80) so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, but null
