Pre-Service Teacher’s Perspective on Video Based Language Learning in Teaching Listening

Listening is one of the most important language skills. Listening is the part in
communication, through listening we can share our ideas with other people. The act
of listening involves complex affective, cognitive, and behavioral processes. In
some cases, Video Based Learning is one way that can be done to improve listening
skills in the classroom. Also, videos can catch students' attention, inspiring and
engaging them to work together more effectively. As a result, using videos can help
students study more effectively. The researcher will conduct a case study research
of pre-service teachers perception on video based language learning in teaching
listening. This research took the data from several universities in Bogor. The
participants are 30 pre-service teachers on questionnaire and six pre-service
teachers on interview. Therefore, that the perception of pre-service teachers on
video based learning revealed positive statements that video-based learning helps
students’ to enhance their listening skill.
