The ability of arranging words into sentences in teaching writing is the basic skill
which has to be mastered by students especially students of Elementary School.
The ability in arranging words into sentences needs exercise and experiences.
Student need exercise and experiences to enhance their ability in arranging words
into sentences , This ability is different from one student to another. It depends on
some factors in teaching learning process. One of them is the students’ motivation
to learn and teaching technique which is used by the teacher. This research
describes the ability of students in arranging words into sentences using rolled
paper method. Kinds of words used by them, are Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Verb,
Adverb etc. Type of sentences that are mostly used by students are Simple
Sentence and Simple Continuous Tense. In process of arranging the words, there
are error sentences caused by grammatical, vocabularies, spelling, and contextual.
Beside that students were given questionnaires (open-ended question) about the
teaching learning process using the rolled paper. Having collecting and analyzing
the data, the writer proved that Improving Ability of the students in arranging
words into sentences by using the rolled paper is better than without using it.
