Abstract
This research is about Content Analysis of English Textbook for the
Seventh Grade of Junior High School. The aims of this research was find out the
suitability of the textbook with cunningsworth theory. The researcher used content
analysis.The subject of this research was the textbook entitled “When English
Rings a Bell”. The researcher used the theory of scoring analysis suggested by
cunningsworth?s. These results indicate that the English textbook is titled When
English Rings a Bell fulfills the criteria proposed in Cunningsworth's theory of
analysis of impressionistic/surface textbooks with a score of 90% and analysis of
the 2014 revised in-depth textbook with a summative score of 70% and analysis
of the 2017 revised deep textbook with a summative score of 90%. From the
summation score, the 2017 revised textbook is categorized as a textbook that is
quite good and quite suitable for use as a medium in the teaching and learning
process. Based on these findings, researchers have suggestions for future teachers,
publishers and researchers.
