Speaking is one of the skilis that has to be learnt in mastering English. And it
is very important in communication. lf people can speak English ,they wiil
communicate well and the purpose of communication can be achieved. But
sometimes the students get the difficulty in speakirg. To solve the difficullty faced
by the students, the media are needed. One kind of media that can be used is the
wall chart. Wall charts can be used as teaching aids. In this study ,wall charts were
used as teaching aids in teaching speaking on English procedure texts at junior
high school.
ln this study, the method used was quantitative experimental method. The
experiment of teaching speaking on Engiish procedure texts using wall charts at
junior high school was conducted. This study was done in MTs Sirojulkamal. It is
located on jalan cibanteng Bahbengket, Km 7 Desa Sidutaun Rt.05/02 Kec.
Tenjolaya Kab Bogor 16620. There were 4 classes for grade seven. The total 6f
population was 130 students. The students of VII-A and VII-B were chosen as the
sarnple. There were two variables in this study. Variable ,X1 was the speaking skill
on English procedure texts of the students who were taught English procedure
text using wall charts. And variable X2 was the speaking skill on English
procedure texts of the students who were taught Eng!ish procedure texts without
using any media.
Based on the result of the analyzing data done, there was a difference
between variable X1 and variable X2;. The mean of variable X1 (34-167) was
higher than the mean variable X2 {32,800) It means that the speaking skill on
English procedure text of tlie students who were taught English procedure texts
using wall charts was better than the speaking skill on English procedure texts of
the students who were taught Engiish procedure texts without using my media..
Furthernore, the result explained that t-observed (3,286) was higher than the
t-table {2,392). It means there was a very significant difference betweeri the
speaking skill on English procedure texts of the student who were taught English
procedure texts using wail charts and without using any media (teaching aids).
Therefore, it can be concluded that teaching speaking on English procedure texts
using wall charts at junior high school was effective to help the studenls speak on
Engiish procedure texts.
