Abstak

Abstract
The method of da'wah of Muslims in the modern era has changed a lot when
compared to previous da'wah activities. If in the past da'wah was carried out
through recitations and pulpits, things are different from today. Pop-culture as a
phenomenon has changed the da'wah landscape a lot. It's not a taboo at this time,
where da'wah activities have spread to Instagram social media. Not a few accounts
of organizations and individuals who are actively spreading Islamic messages on
social media. One of them is the Yuk Ngaji community. The posters posted by the
@YukNgaji account are very interesting to study, especially this account is good at
combining pop-culture themes into da'wah messages. This study discusses the
Semiotic Analysis of Popular Culture Elements on the Online Da'wah Study Poster
on Instagram @yukngajiid. The purpose of this study was to find out (1) how
elements of popular culture can be presented in the Instagram account
@yukngajiid, (2) how the results of semiotic analysis of online da'wah posters on
social media Instagram @yukngajiid. This research uses qualitative research with
a literature study approach. The meaning is carried out using Charles Sanders
Peirce's semiotic theory by interpreting signs consisting of icons, indexes, and
symbols to find out the meaning contained in the study poster on the @yukngajiid
account. The results of this study indicate that there are several da’wah posters on
the Instagram account @yukngajiid utilizing elements of popular culture in
conveying their da'wah messages by raising the trend of contemporary issues as an
attraction so that mad'u are provoked to catch the da'wah message. The issues that
they use as propaganda materials include those related to the world of youth, films,
discussions that are trend on social media.
