Scientific approach is a method recommended by curriculum 2013. The
implementation of scientific approach has five stages they are observing,
questioning, experimenting, associating, and communicating. This research
investigates the lesson plans created by the teachers and the implementation of
scientific approach ia teaching English. A qualitative-descriptive approach was
employed to conduct this study. The researcher uses systematic sampling to
choose two English teachers af SMPN 16 Bogor to be the participants to give
their lesson plan and take the information in teaching-learning process which are
used to gather the data about tire lesson plan and the implementation of scientific
approach in the teaching English.The result of this study reveals that the teachers
create a lesson plan based on curriculum 2013. However, the teachers do not
include explicity the stages of scientific approach. The findings showed that, the
five steps ef scientific approach arc observing, questioning, experimenting
associating and communicating and the teachers have implemented in the
teaching learning process. However, experimenting and communicating are not
included in their lesson plans. In addition, this suggests that teachers should be
able to implement all of stages of scientific approach both in teaching learning
process and in lesson pians.
