ABSTRACT
The aims of this study were to describe the teacher’ beliefs in teaching reading
comprehension and is there a difference between teachers' beliefs and practices in
teaching reading comprehension. The method of this research was descriptive
qualitative with survey method research. The subject of this study was English
teachers at state junior high school Gunung Putri, Bogor. The instruments of this
study were questionnaire and interview. The results of the study found that teacher's
belief in teaching reading comprehension is divided into several things, namely the
learning objectives, the difficulties that the teacher finds, the material being taught,
and the strategies. Furthermore, there is no difference between teachers' beliefs and
practices in teaching reading comprehension.
