Reading is one of the important skills for learning a foreign language. Without
engagement or interest in students, it hinders the achievement of mastery of reading
skills. This study aims to find out how is the Let’s Read application used in reading
learning activities and what is the impact of using the Let’s Read application on
students’ engagement in reading. Qualitative analysis with the technique of data
collection of close-ended questionnaire, interview, and observation appears to be
the method. This research was conducted at a Junior High School in Bogor.
Participants in this study were VII D grade students, totaling 30 people. The first
finding of this study shows how the teacher uses Let's Read application in reading
activities, i.e., by choosing three levels of books, listening and repetition the
reading, writing down vocabulary, and reading individually. The second finding is
the impact of using the Let's Read application on students’ engagement in reading,
such as improving their pronunciation, increasing their vocabulary, helping their
comprehension, and building students’ engagement through interest, happiness,
and exciting.
