: TOEFL Learning 2.0: Facilitating the Students in
Learning TOEFL via Online Learning Environment
Abstract
One of the kinds of Web 2.0, Facebook, can be used as a tool for teaching and
learning activity. To check whether it is suitable or not for the teaching and learning
process, it can be seen from how it is implemented, what the affordances exist, and
how the students respond. The purpose of this study are to find how Web 2.0 is
implemented at Sekolah TOEFL, what the affordances of Web 2.0 exist at Sekolah
TOEFL, and how the students of Sekolah TOEFL respond to the implementation of
Web 2.0 in their learning activities.
This study uses Netnographic Qualitative. There are two sources of data;
three students of Sekolah TOEFL and the Facebook group of Sekolah TOEFL. This
study uses three kinds of data collection; fieldnote, archival, and elicited data, and
three kinds of instrument; observation to collect the fieldnote data, interview to
collect the elicited data, and artefact to collect the archival data.
The result shows that all of the activities at Sekolah TOEFL are conducted
online. This study also shows that there are three types of affordances of Facebook
that exist at Sekolah TOEFL; pedagogical affordances, social affordances, and
technical affordances. Moreover, the students give positive reponses to the
implementation of Web 2.0 at Sekolah TOEFL. It shows by 81 % of thanking
comments on the third handbook posting and 84,8 % of thanking comments on the
fifth handbook posting.
