ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research were to find out the students? perception on
collaborative learning model in speaking English, because at this time using the
right method for learning is very important so that the purposes of the learning can
be achieved optimally especially in speaking English, not only learning purposes
will be achieved, but also students feel happier if the methods used in learning are
interesting. So, one of method that can help students in speaking English is
collaborative. Collaborative learning is the method which can help students to
improving their English learning, especially speaking. The researcher conducted
this research because they have a group to learn English in which the researchers
want to know their perceptions of learning outcomes using the collaborative
method. The research design used in this research was descriptive analytics using
qualitative method. The researcher used observation, questionnaire and interview
as a research instruments to collecting the data. The participants in this research
were five students of English Education at a University in Bogor. The result of
this research showed that students had positive perceptions in collaborative
learning method to improve their speaking skills. Students have positive
perceptions on teaching material using collaborative learning, students have
positive perceptions on learning activities with collaborative learning and students
have positive perceptions towards teacher roles in collaborative learning method.
