Abstract
This research aims at investigating students’ strategies in writing skill, especially
recount text and to know what the most strategies used by the students. The
design of the study is qualitative research which employs content analysis. Thirty
seven students of the 2nd grade at SMAN 10 Bogor as the sample of this study
have to answer 30 questions of closed ended questionnaire about writing
strategies and data documents of their recount text. The result of the research
shows that the participants used these three strategies (pre-writing, while writing
and revising). The findings show that the participant used pre-writing 72.97 %,
while writing 72.43%, and revising 74.32 %. It means that the participants used
the different strategies. An implication of the study is that students need to be
encouraged to use various strategies in improving their writing. The strategy of
writing is important to help them writing successfully in the target language.
