: An Investigation of Students’ Experience in Using
English Listening Lesson Library Online (ELLLO)
in Developing Listening Skills
ABSTRACT
Listening skill is one of the main skills that belong to several aspects of language
competence besides speaking, reading, and writing. In the academic area, especially
in the English Education Department, listening is one of the skills learned by
students since the first semester. In this research, the researcher focused on
investigating how students’ experience in using English Listening Lesson Library
Online in developing listening skills and measuring its effectiveness. This study
used the qualitative method as a framework for analysing and collecting data. The
data were obtained from a questionnaire, guided reflective journal, and interview.
The participants in this study were ten college students of the English Education
study program of Ibn Khaldun University who have experience in learning English
listening subjects. The findings of the study indicate that ELLLO can be a benefit
tool to enrich students’ vocabulary and idioms, ELLLO develop students’ learning
motivation in developing their listening skills, ELLLO can be an effective tool to
mediate students’ listening skills. The participants showed a good response toward
ELLLO, and ELLLO itself influenced participants in some aspects of listening
skills. They became more interested and motivated in doing listening activities on
ELLLO.
