This article investigates the metacognitive strategy that students used in online
reading. The purpose of this study was to analyze metacognitive strategy that
students used and to find out the strategy that students mostly used. This study
uses case study and qualitative research methods to describe in detail about
strategy metacognitive that students used for learn online reading. To find out the
results of analysis that has been done and to describe metacognitive strategy such
as planning, monitoring and evaluating that the students used in online reading.
The instrument that research used is questionnaires and interviews. The results
show students make a plan before reading, monitoring the ability of the students
while reading online and evaluate the results for better learning and the most
strategy that students always used is planning. Students claimed that they can
improve their ability using strategy metacognitive. The implication of this
research is that students should be encourage to optimize the metacognitive
strategies in reading online materials.
