The use of social media has become the main topic in teaching and
learning. One of the media that reveals in giving students a teaching medium is
Instagram. Instagram is an online teaching medium that teachers and learners can
use for free inside and outside of classrooms. This study mainly aimed at
analysing the use of Instagram as a media for teaching writing i.e. the impacts of
using Instagram on the students,and the students’ attitude toward the use of
Instagram in teaching writing. This study used qualitative research method in the
form of case study to conduct the data. Observation, interview, and questionnaire
were the instruments for collecting the data. The result reveals that using
instagram as a media for teaching writing has several impacts. The impacts are
Instagram could potentially improve students motivation, create positive
atmosphere during the learning process, and to reduce effective time consuming in
learning. Furthermore, the data from statistical computation shows that mean total
of the students’ attitude is3.74. Students showed the positive attitude toward the
learning process since the result is higher than the neutral score (3.0).
