This study aimed to find out the teachers’ perception the English textbook used in
their class. The participants are three of second grade teachers of MAN 2 Kab.
Bogor. This research used qualitative method. The instruments are questionnaire
and interviews. The questionnaire consists of 8 questions, and 5 interviews. The
finding revealed that the teachers use of textbook as teaching material and
expected to broaden teachers’ knowledge about, content, criteria and textbooks
guidelines sources of education. This research show that three teacher’s of
respondents agreed that content textbook serves as a relevant to curriculum. The
three participants answered highly affected with textbook as source knowledge for
teacher, then also the result very positive. Some of them revealed that textbooks
should go hand in hand with supplementary teaching materials to serve learners’
needs. There were two main difficulties faced by teachers, the level of difficulties
of the listening skill materials, and limited aids for teaching. The result of the
study is expected to teachers’ using textbook in their class, to know of textbook
can be sources of knowledge for teachers and learners.
