Critical thinking is important, every pre-service teacher must teach
critical thinking in their classroom. The pre-service teacher has different
experiences in teaching critical thinking. In the learning process, pre-service
teachers have challenges in teaching critical thinking. Therefore, the purpose of
this study was to investigate what the pre-service teacher understandings’ are
toward critical thiking and to know what the pre-service teacher experiences are in
teaching critical thinking in EFL classroom. The qualitative method was used in
this study. The participants were selected from ten pre-service teacher.
Questionnaires and interviews were used to obtain qualitative data to achieve the
goals. Three pre-service teachers were selected in the interviewed, and data were
collected from an interview used to support this study. The findings found that
majority of pre-service have poor understanding of critical thinking and pre
service teachers have different experiences in teaching critical thinking. This
research also found that those pre-service teacher faced the challenges in teaching
crtitical thiking.
