Abstak
Social media platforms play a significant role in facilitating learners in various ways and making
the learning process less structured and more self-directed. And that self-directed learning also
has a huge impact in affecting learners’ success in online learning setting. This study aims to
explore the potential @englishfess_ auto-base account on X to promote students’ self-directed
learning in learning English and its advantages and disadvantages. The researcher employed a
qualitative approach and case study research method. The participants was 4 college student from
different universities in Indonesia. The data were collected by using semi-structured interview
and digital materials. The findings revealed that @englishfess_ provides an engaging way to learn
English. This account is potential to supplement the students’ learning process in learning English
outside classroom.
