Title : Exploring The Use Of Interactive Video In Teaching
Vocabulary
In learning vocabulary definetely the teacher's role in providing methods will
determine the students’ success. Mostly the teacher teaches vocabulary to students
using method of drilling, repetition or memorization, it is likely that these words
will be forgotten and the students will be inactive. Numerous previous researchers
proved that media can increase children’s vocabulary. one of the solution is that
the use of interactive video in teaching vocabulary. This research aims to find out
how teachers use interactive video as strategy t o teach vocabulary and whether
interactive video affects teacher teaching strategy. The findings show some
strategy used by the teacher: 1) Variety of sources, there are three main sources
used by the teacher to teach vocabulary, namely: Youtube, Instagram, and
Kahoot. 2) Appropriate interactivity aspects, appropriate interactivity aspects
needed to support and help student to be active, focus, and concentrate. The
appropriate interactivity aspects are multiple choice, reflective pause, and
discussion forum. 3) Engagement, student’s engagement is important in teaching
learning activity, because it is a measurement whether the learning process has
good quality or not. It seems like a must. The engagement sectors such as social
interaction, feedback, and challenges. The second finding found that the affects of
interactive video towards teacher’s strategy are divided into three main categories,
namely: 1) intersting material and activity; 2) teacher’s flexibility; 3) organized
prepration.
