Title : The Influences of Classroom
Management on Students’ Motivation in
Learning English: Students’ Responses
ABSTRACT
Good classroom management ensures quality of teaching and learning. It
means the good classroom management is needed in teaching and learning
process. Good classroom management which arranged by the teacher can
influence students’ motivation in learning. This study attempts to explore and
identify the students’ responses on teacher’s classroom management towards
students’ motivation in learning English and the characteristics of motivated
students in learning English. The study focused on the influences of classroom
management on students’ motivation in learning English from the view of
students’ responses. The qualitative method was adopted in this research. The
researcher chose one English teacher and fifteen students who were divided into
three achievement levels 5 students for high achievement level, 5 students for
moderate achievement level and 5 students for low achievements level as the
sample. The data was collected using documents, classroom observations and
interviews.
The result of this study reveals that classroom management influenced
students’ extrinsic motivation in learning English. The students’ were enjoying
the learning process. They were interested in the lesson and enthusiastic in doing
the instructions and tasks because they got encouragement from outside factor that
influence their extrinsic motivation in learning English that is classroom
management.
